CCCVI is a young organization founded earlier this year through the merger of the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Topography (CBCCT) and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC). The organizations mission is to enhance the quality of patient care through individual and multi-modality cardiovascular imaging certification of physicians. Certification recognizes physicians whom have demonstrated knowledge and skills in their respective fields by passing a written exam.
According to CBNC, the purpose of the exam is to assess the level of knowledge demonstrated by Nuclear Cardiology specialists, encourage professional growth and enhance the quality of practice, recognize individuals whom have met the requirements, and to serve the public by encouraging quality patient care in the practice of Nuclear Cardiology.
CBNC and CBCCT have certified over 1,700 physicians in cardiovascular CT across more than 40 countries; and over 7,200 nuclear cardiology diplomats in over 50 countries. Combined, CCCVI has certified more than 8,500 individuals since 1996.
The CCCVI board of directors consists of seven members elected by majority vote of the Councils board. It is split evenly with three CBNC members, three CBCCT members and two At Large members.
Council member duties include establishing policy and procedural guidelines, employing the Chief Executive Officer to administer the Council, oversee the finances and general programmatic activity of the Council, and to fulfill any other duties specified by the Councils Board of Directors. Members perform their duties for little to no compensation, unless otherwise stated.
CCCVI board members are required to meet annually within the first quarter of the fiscal year, as well as attend special meetings that may be requested.
White was appointed to the board for his extensive knowledge and expertise in bettering the practice of cardiology. Your contributions will not only be of great benefit to us, but to the field as well, said Robert Gropler, MD, chairman of CCCVI.
